Who we are
INESS (Institute for Economic and Social Analyses) is an independent, non-governmental and non-partisan think-tank operating in Slovakia since 2005. Over more than 20 years it has become the most cited economic institute in Slovakia.
From a three-person organisation in 2005, INESS has grown into a respected institution whose analyses are cited by media, governments and international organisations.
Vision and mission
INESS's vision is a prosperous Slovakia that supports free enterprise, value creation, the rule of law, personal freedom and peace — a country where citizens understand the principles of a market economy and the impact of state intervention in the economy.
INESS's mission is to monitor, scrutinise and advocate policies that promote:

- Decentralised civic solutions
- Informed citizen decision-making
What we do
INESS's work rests on two pillars — analytical and advocacy work and education.
Analytical work
Policy analyses and studies in public finance, taxation, healthcare, education, social systems, regulation, the labour market, energy and monetary policy. We produce 2,500+ media outputs per year.
Education
The State Price competition, the Economics Olympiad, textbooks, seminars for secondary school students and university lectures. We are building a generation that understands economics.

Funding
INESS is funded by voluntary donations from individuals and companies, foundation grants, and own-activity income. Independent funding guarantees independent conclusions.
